Busy Day

Today was a very busy, productive day.  We drove to Lexington for our last visit with the social worker.  It's hard to believe that after years of paper work, paper work, and more paper work it's all over.  It is really a surreal feeling.  It's a GREAT feeling!

We met Amy, our social worker, at the mall.  She likes to see how the child interacts in an open environment.  Nugget played in the play area while we chatted.  Thankfully my mom came with us and was able to keep an eye on Nugget.  (Thanks Mom!)  Amy was happy to see how Nugget kept checking for me.  She was amazed how much he has grown in just six months.  She commented that he is such a happy boy!  :o)
Maemae and Nugget watching the man with a helicopter.
This summer I will be working on getting Nugget's Kentucky birth certificate.  I'm sure there will be more paper work involved, but it can't be as bad.

We went to lunch at PF Chang's to celebrate after the meeting.  Nugget enjoyed chicken lo mein.  I was so excited, he ate something other than mac & cheese.

Later in the evening we went to Uncle B's baseball game.  Nugget's favorite thing about a baseball game is the popcorn.

Nugget sharing some of Pop's popcorn while he watches the game.  This picture is precious to me because last Friday Pop was in intensive care at the hospital.  I am so thankful that he can be at the game holding Nugget just a few days later.

Birthday Dinner

On Thursday we went out to dinner with Nugget's grandparents to celebrate his birthday.   We were a little early so I thought I'd try and take a few birthday photos of Nugget.  These are some of my favorites.

This one is my favorite.

Hanging Around the House

During spring break last week Bear, Nugget and I spent a lot of time at home.   These are some pictures from our time at home.

The Tunnel
Nugget enjoys playing in this tunnel.  He will often bring toys and books into the tunnel.

Taking a break...
LOVE that smile!

First Thing in the Morning

'Mom, what's for breakfast?'
I don't see anything good.
Guess I'll read the news while I wait.

Big Toes, Little Toes
I looked up and saw this one day.
This was the full picture.

In my mind this is what I saw.
Aren't those the cutest toes?!?

March in Review

A very good friend emailed earlier this week and wanted a March rewind.  :o)
I sometimes forget that there are other people other than my mom and sister-in-law who like to see pictures of Nugget.  So RB Pam, this post is dedicated to you!  Thanks for the kick in the pants to post again.

March was relatively quiet for us.  We had one week where Nugget was really sick with RSV, but thankfully that was the only issue we had all month.

Nugget's vocabulary is growing EVERY day.  Some of his words don't sound exactly like English, but I know what he means.  For example he will say 'awn ooo' when he means thank you.  For the word off Nugget says 'ice'.  I'm not sure how some of his words come about, but I love how he is learning so quickly.  Best of all Nugget does understand quite a bit of what we are saying to him.  In no time at all I am sure he will be talking up a storm.

No television for the first year after coming home is one of the suggestions given to foster attachment.    For the first nine months Bear and I didn't watch T.V. when Nugget was awake.  After the hand accident we let Nugget watch Elmo clips on the iPad.  He loves Elmo ~ LOVES him.  We now let Nugget watch one video in the evening and he always gets so excited.  This is how he sits for the first few minutes of the show:

Early in March we went to a home show.  There was a little petting zoo.  Nugget had more fun running around in the sawdust than seeing the animals at first.
Then he enjoyed petting the goat...

...but he LOVED the piglets!

At the ball field between high school games.

Nugget loves fish.
Here are a few videos from a Flip dump.  The first is Nugget's latest trick.

I came out of the laundry room one morning and caught a Cheerio thief in our pantry.  :o)

It's hard to believe that 10 months ago Nugget could not pick up a Cheerio and now he can snap blocks together.  This amazes me.

Every day Nugget runs up and down the hall with his wagon.

Nugget and I have been home all week on spring break.  We haven't done anything very exciting, but spend lots of quality time together.  It's the best spring break I've ever had!!

February ReWind...

Time has slipped away from me again and it has been too long since my last post.  I went to look at my camera and I could't believe I hadn't dumped it since January 31st.  Here are a few snapshots from February.

Sick Day ~ February 1st
Nugget is a cool dude ~ even when he is home sick!
Having his morning cereal.

Nugget and I were home with colds.  I was working at the desk and Nugget was playing
behind me one minute ~ suddenly it was quiet and when I turned around this
is what I saw...
The Day After The Accident

Playing with his pillow buddies.  He LOVES these things!

Just a cute picture thrown in...

Valentine's Day
Getting ready...

My first attempt at cake balls.
They are super easy to make, but I must admit I'm not a fan.
Not a very happy camper Valentine's Day Morning.

Chinese New Year
We celebrated a several days after Chinese New Year because Nugget
was out of school for two weeks due to the accident.

Isn't he the cutest?  ;o)
I've started planning for Nugget's 2nd birthday.  I can't believe he is going to be two already in a little over a month.   I was going to do a fish birthday party but I've decided to go with Nugget's favorite little monster.  Here's a hint:
