Chinese New Year Parade

Big Bear and I had a great time last weekend in Chicago. We drove up early Saturday morning. We spent the afternoon shopping on Michigan Ave.  Then we went to Ditka's for dinner.  It was so much fun!

Sunday we headed to Chinatown.  We couldn't believe how crowded it was.  Unfortunately we didn't get to do any shopping, it was just too crowded.  It gives us an excuse to go back this spring!  :)

We went to a Dim Sum restaurant Sunday.  No one told us what to do or how to order.  We had no clue.  Ladies with carts of food would come to the table and ask if we wanted this or that.  At first we kept saying yes, HA!  Then we learned the trick, luckily before we had a huge table of food.  My all time favorite were the sesame balls.  I don't know what they are made of, I don't know if I want to know, but they were good!

We have so many fun pictures I couldn't decide.  The pictures I took from my phone.  Can you believe I forgot my camera, again!?!  Luckily my brother brought his camera!  You can tell which are which.  I decided to just put them in a slide show.  I didn't want to bore you all with lots of pictures.  Some of them are quite fun!

After the parade Big Bear and I headed home.  We were supposed to get a lot of snow on Monday, but it didn't happen until Tuesday!

We had so much fun at the parade - actually the entire weekend - that we will probably do this often.  I can't wait to take Polar Cub one day!

  1. Love it! I just love Chicago...
See you soon; I am excited ;-)

  2. What a great way to spend a family day! Looking forward to parade pics with PC in them!

Glad the snow held off for your drive home. Any snow days this week?

  3. I think you just gave me a tradition that we need to start with how we celebrate CNY! Thank you! Maybe we will see you there next year!!

  4. Can you believe I've never been to Chicago? LOL! It's on my list of things to do before I die.

Looks like you guys had fun.

  5. Great pictures! Love me some dim sum!

  6. I looove some dim sum. The seasame balls have a red bean paste inside I think...I will have to look it up. I have a little dim sum book some where:) Yummy.

When Soph gets a little older I want to start a "tradition" of going to different china towns for CNY.

Hope I will get to see you this summer with all the snow days you guys are going to have make up!!!

  7. Looks like it was a lot of fun. I've never had dim sum but can't wait to try it :o)

  8. That looked like so much fun!! I have yet to go to a dim sum restaurant....but it is on the list of things we want to do!

  9. What a perfect weekend. Hope is was dingle dork free ;0)

Sorry about the shrimp looking at you. This is how I know the China diet will be my friend. I don't want my foodies staring back.

Miss PIPA is gonna need some of that CNY goodness for sure.

Looking forward to seeing you soon. Float on up in your boat!
